Before Our Friends Die, we want them to know....
Discussing the Lunar New Year and Introducing: 'Before Our Friends Die' by the akhi&saltfish Digital Network
Anyone who knows me personally knows how much I enjoy creating content and bringing a concept to life. Take a look at this blog for example, One Brick an Hour, I'm trying to build something of a content house - brick by brick.
My friend Rashel and I have spoken for a long time about wanting to create a podcast that pushes boundaries, shares our perspectives and increases our freqency of long form conversations.
With that in mind, we created the 'Before Our Friends Die' podcast on our very own akhi&saltfish Digital Network (...bravo if you get that reference).
The concept is: "Before Our Friends Die, we want them to know about..." and you, the audience, are our friends. Sometimes it's about having the coversations that often get overlooked, yet feel urgent. Equally, it can be about speaking to someone who is where we want to be and asking them how they did it.
This time, for our very first episode, we learn about the Lunar New Year. In my work with the GEM Staff Network, I've been wanting to learn more about occasions celebrated by the GEM community so we're joined by proud Hong Konger, Brittaney, to teach us all about the Lunar New Year!
Take a listen to the episode and learn the classic customs of one of the biggest celebrations on Earth including why the humble tangerine is associated with good luck but can also help you out with a sore throat.
Brittaney leaves us with three phrases at the end: "profitable, family and lots of food" so take a listen to learn why.
As always, I welcome your feedback and ask that if you enjoyed what you heard, please leave us a review and don't forget to subscribe. More content is coming soon.

One Brick An Hour is a blog by Kahvan in reference to "Rome wasn’t built in a day, but they were laying bricks every hour." from James Clear. Read more to learn about the bricks I continue to add to my Rome.
